THE Mini Manuscript Critique PROCESS
How does it all happen?
1. First contact. You fill out the simple BOOK NOW form, entering the word count you have determined. You upload your Chapter One as a Word document, then send the form.
2. Word count check. We check that we can open your file, and save it on our hard drive. We counter-check the word count.
3. Invoice. If all is well, we immediately email you a PayPal invoice. You do not have to be signed up with PayPal to use this service - you can enter your credit card details on their secure server. It's a very good, safe system. Nevertheless, if you are uncertain about using PayPal, email us and we can arrange for a bank transfer into our account or a cheque by snail mail.
4 You accept or decline. Just as we have no obligation to accept the work you have sent us for inspection, you too are free to change your mind and delete the invoice. We would, of course, appreciate a brief email, so we aren't wondering what is happening!
5. You pay. When you pay the amount on the invoice, PayPal notifies us instantly, and we can begin work on your manuscript ASAP. We will email you a friendly 'hello' to tell you when we've made a start.
6. We critique. We do a spectacular editing job, of course, and write a critique of the chapter against recognised essential criteria of a first-rate opening chapter. Be aware that we have classified this as a technical critique: it assesses your technical skills in crafting a chapter. It is not a literary critique to pass judgment on your creative ability or declare the work a potential best-seller. Remember that we will not be coaxed into commenting on the book concept as a whole, nor will we offer any opinion on its marketability.
7. We return your manuscript promptly
